Long enough to remember when the water was flowing. Long enough to watch the wells fill up with silt.

Ps Keith Ainge takes an easy-to-miss detail from Genesis 26 and builds something genuinely worth hearing. Isaac doesn't invent a new water source. He just digs back down to what his father had, through the opposition, through the setbacks, until the water comes again. It's a simple image. It's also an uncomfortable one, because it raises a question most of us would rather not answer: when did we stop digging?

There's a story in here about a burned-out missionary who went back to an emptying church and started praying alone on Saturday mornings, week after week, for eight months, before anyone joined him. What came next is worth hearing.

<podcast:transcript url="https://hrvstpdcst.com/transcripts/2026-11-01-digging-the-wells.vtt" type="text/vtt" language="en" rel="captions"/>
<itunes:author>Ps Keith Ainge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1793744950502-Digging_the_Wells___Ps_Keith_Ainge.png"/>

Rejoice with Great Joy

Betsy Ten Boom thanked God for the fleas. Corey drew the line. Eventually she relented. Months later, they found out the fleas were the reason the guards never entered the barracks, which meant the Bible studies could continue, and women kept coming to Jesus in one of the darkest places on earth.

Ps Andrew Cartledge builds toward something in this sermon that starts with a memory problem, moves through a concentration camp, stops at the tomb of a four-day-dead Lazarus, and arrives at a single Greek word that connects grace coming down with thanks going up. The connection is tighter than it sounds, and the Nehemiah passage he lands on reframes what it means to bring a sacrifice and what happens after you do.

Giving thanks before you can see a single reason to. That's where this one lives.

<podcast:transcript url="https://hrvstpdcst.com/transcripts/2026-10-18-rejoice-with-great-joy.vtt" type="text/vtt" language="en" rel="captions"/>
<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1792361510217-Rejoice_with_great_Joy_-_Miracle_Sunday___Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

Dig a Deeper Ditch

Three kings. An army without water. A valley without rain. And a prophet who says: dig ditches.

That is not the miracle. That is the job before the miracle.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a strange little passage from 2 Kings 3 and pulls out something that cuts against just about everything we assume about how God provides. The water was already coming. God had already spoken it. The digging wasn't what made it happen. But without the ditches, there was nowhere for it to go. Andrew takes that thought somewhere personal and sits it right in front of you: not whether God can provide, but whether you've actually made any room to receive it.

If your life is full to the edges with things that don't matter, that question lands a bit differently.

<podcast:transcript url="https://hrvstpdcst.com/transcripts/2026-10-11-dig-a-deeper-ditch.vtt" type="text/vtt" language="en" rel="captions"/>
<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1791754682315-Dig_a_Deeper_Ditch___Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

Radical Generosity

Generosity is easy to talk about. It gets a lot harder when it's actually costing you something.

Ps Andrew Cartledge draws on a church that had every reason not to give. The Macedonian believers were poor, under pressure and dealing with serious trouble of their own. And yet they begged Paul for the chance to participate. They weren't giving out of surplus. They were giving out of surrender, and that's what made it remarkable.

There's a moment in here about David raising an enormous offering for a temple he was never going to worship in, and what that says about the kind of generosity that actually changes things. And there's a question underneath all of it that's worth sitting with: are you asking God what to give, or are you asking God what he wants to do with you?

Those are very different questions.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1791246015712-Radical_Generosity___Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

The prayer of surrender

Most people think surrender is weakness. But what if it's the most defiant thing you can do?

This sermon takes you on a journey that starts in the quiet of a prayer room and ends somewhere far more personal than you might expect. Pastor Andrew Cartledge weaves together three threads that don't seem connected at first, but by the time they come together, you'll see how each one leads to the same destination. There's something in here that will likely land differently depending on where you are right now, whether that's your prayer life, your finances, or something you've been quietly avoiding for a long time. He doesn't let anyone off the hook, including himself.

You won't hear the word surrender the same way again.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1790551005209-The_prayer_of_surrender.png"/>

My Church

Have you ever sat in a room full of people and still felt like a visitor, like you were watching something happen rather than being part of it?

There is a difference between showing up to church and actually owning it, and most people have never stopped to think about which one they are doing. This sermon unpacks five levels of commitment that move you from the back row to being genuinely invested in something bigger than yourself. It is honest, a little uncomfortable in the best way, and full of the kind of straight talk that makes you sit up and take stock of where you actually stand. You might find yourself somewhere in the middle of these five levels, closer to the front than you expected, or further back than you would like to admit.

Watch to find out what it really means to say "it's my church," and whether you are the person who jumps over the twig or the one who stops to pick it up.

<itunes:author>Ps Keith Ainge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1790323609887-My_Church.png"/>

Carriers of the Presence

There is a moment in this sermon where a king, on the greatest day of his life, walks through his own front door and the temperature drops 20 degrees. Nobody talks about that moment. But it might be the most revealing thing in the whole story.

This message moves through one of the strangest passages in the Old Testament and finds something in it that feels uncomfortably current. A Philistine who opens his door and watches everything change. A princess who watches from a window and slowly turns to stone. A king who makes four declarations in the face of criticism that cut right to the heart of what it means to know who you are and why you are here. Guest speaker Wayne Alcorn weaves his own family's story through all of it, and the combination is the kind of thing that quietly rearranges the furniture in your thinking without you quite noticing it happening.

If any part of you suspects there might be more to carry into your week than you walked in with, this one might be worth sitting with.

<itunes:author>Ps Wayne Alcorn</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1789365266952-Ps_Wayne_Alcorn.png"/>

Perseverance & Godliness

Most people think perseverance just means gritting your teeth and waiting it out. But what if the way you endure is quietly reshaping who you actually are?

In this sermon, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes a cooking show, a funeral, a childhood running memory, and a surprisingly honest look at the difference between godliness and religion, and weaves them into something that lands harder than you might expect. She explores why Peter placed these two qualities side by side in his letter, what it actually costs to live a godly life, and why the tree you choose to eat from matters more than the rules you follow. There is a moment in here about grace and truth held together that is worth sitting with long after the sermon ends.

This one is for anyone who has been quietly wondering if the version of faith they are living is the full recipe or just a bowl of flour.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1788223664247-Perseverance_and_Godliness___Ps_Rachel_Cartledge.png"/>

Knowledge & Self Control

Most people assume that knowing the right thing automatically means doing the right thing. But there is a gap between understanding truth and actually living by it, and that gap has brought down some of the most spiritually gifted people in history.

In this message, Ps Caleb McLaughlin unpacks two qualities from 2 Peter 1 that were always meant to work together. One fills you up, and the other stops you from leaking under pressure. You will hear why knowledge without the other half can quietly become its own kind of trap, and why the struggle you keep losing might not be a sign that you are failing, but a sign that you are still in the fight. There is a moment in this message where the stakes of getting this wrong become very real, and it is worth sitting with.

This one might ask more of your honesty than your time.

<itunes:author>Ps Caleb McLaughlin</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1787608999017-Knowledge___Self_Control___Ps_Caleb_McLaughlin.png"/>

Do You See What I See

On one side, there is a wall so fortified that nobody goes in and nobody comes out. On the other, a command to simply march around it and believe it is already yours.

This sermon walks through one of the strangest military strategies in history and asks a question that cuts much closer to home than ancient Jericho. What does it actually mean to see something before it exists? Guest speaker Daniel Bates brings that question to life not through theory but through story after story of what happens when ordinary people stop arguing with what they cannot see and start acting on what they have been told. There is something here about silence, about unity, about a covenant that does not ask whether you are worthy before it covers you.

It shows up when it's easy, stays quiet when it costs something, and calls itself faith.

This sermon from Ps Greg McKinnon digs into something most of us have never really sat with: the difference between doing good things and actually being good. Drawing from 2 Peter and a handful of stories that will stay with you, Greg unpacks three dimensions of goodness that the English word barely scratches. There's a moment in here involving Queen Esther, a double-booked school tour, and a plane landing in the Hudson River that somehow all point to the same thing. You'll also hear a question about clean hands and a pure heart that is simple enough to brush past and specific enough to stop you cold.

Watch this one when you've got someone nearby you'd want to bring into the conversation after.

<itunes:author>Ps Greg McKinnon</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1786401622856-The_Guaranteed_Christian_Life___Goodness___Greg_McKinnon.png"/>

The Foundation

A builder stands at the edge of a freshly poured slab, knowing that nothing else can go up until this sets. Nobody admires it. Nobody photographs it. But without it, everything above ground eventually falls.

This sermon sits with one of the most overlooked questions in the Christian life: not what you are building, but what you are building on. Ps Andrew Cartledge works through a claim in 2 Peter that would have sounded scandalous to its original audience, and the implications of that claim reach further than most people expect. There is something here about identity, about the difference between knowing you belong to a family and actually living like you do, and about why the parts of faith that feel the most uncomfortable might be doing the most important work.

Watch this one and let it settle.

And what if the reason so many people feel like they're falling short has nothing to do with what they lack?

In this sermon, Ps Keith Ainge unpacks a single verse from 2 Peter that carries more weight than most people realise. He works through six ideas packed into just 27 words, and the way he connects ancient scripture to everyday life, from flat-pack furniture to a Ford Prefect in the backyard, makes it genuinely hard to look away. There's something here about the difference between knowing about someone and actually knowing them, and why that distinction might be the most important thing you explore this year.

Sit down and give this one a watch.

<itunes:author>Ps Keith Ainge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1785203908358-The_Guanteed_Christian_Life___What_God_has_Given_Us___Ps_Keith_Ainge.png"/>

The Guarantee

What if the Christian life you've been living is actually just the starting line, not the finish line? And what if there's a genuine guarantee attached to how you build from here?

In this sermon, Andrew Cartledge opens up a series through one of the most overlooked corners of the New Testament, and the question he keeps coming back to is both simple and uncomfortable: are you burying what you've been given, or actually doing something with it? He draws on some unexpected stories, a cringe-worthy high school athletics moment, a workplace analogy, and a parable that most people think they already know, to frame something that might reframe how you think about faith entirely. If you've ever felt like your spiritual life is running but going nowhere, this is worth your time.

Watch now and find out what the guarantee actually says.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1785205857281-The_Guaranteed_Christian_Life___The_Guarantee___Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

Authority to Grow

"Be strong and courageous" sounds like a call to try harder. But what if authority doesn't come from effort at all?

Pastor Ron Spence takes an unexpected path through Robin Williams, Elmer Fudd, and a centurion who understood something that most people never figure out. He unpacks why so many people stay stuck, why imagination can be more dangerous than circumstance, and what it actually looks like to carry the kind of authority that changes things. This one moves around a lot, but it keeps landing in the same place, and by the end you'll see exactly why that place matters.

If you've ever felt like you were working harder than the results showed, sit with this one for a while. It might answer a question you didn't know you were carrying.

<itunes:author>Ps Ron Spence</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2026-03-22-authority-to-grow.jpg"/>

Harvest Church Sunday Service 10:30AM

What if the biggest barrier to doing something meaningful isn't your lack of resources, your lack of confidence, or even your lack of calling, but simply the way you've been thinking about your role? In this episode, Pastor Joel brings a fresh set of eyes to one of the most familiar miracles in the Bible, and the result is genuinely uncomfortable in the best way. He traces a shift in how Jesus related to the people around him, a shift that reframes what it means to belong to a church community. Along the way he shares stories from his own life that are honest, funny, and surprisingly convicting. By the end, you'll find yourself asking a question you might not have considered before.

It waits for the right conditions, protects what it has, and calls that wisdom. Ps Andrew Cartledge isn't so sure that version is actually faith at all.

In this episode, he does something you don't often hear from a pastor. He steps up to the microphone and starts with an apology. What follows is an honest, unfiltered conversation about generosity, vision, and what it actually looks like when a church decides to stop playing it safe. There's a story from scripture that makes absolutely no economic sense, a farming analogy that reframes everything you thought you knew about what you have in your hand, and a vision for 2026 that is, by the pastor's own admission, a massive call to something bigger than comfort.

If you've ever wondered whether a local church can genuinely change the world, this one is worth your time. None of that looks like idolatry. But it might be.

In this episode, Greg McKinnon takes an ancient showdown between a prophet and 450 false prophets and holds it up like a mirror to modern life. The question Elijah put to a divided nation turns out to be surprisingly personal, and surprisingly uncomfortable. Greg works through why the human heart has a way of building loyalty to things that promise everything and deliver something very different, and what it actually looks like to notice when that is happening in your own life.

This one will probably ask you to sit with something you would rather keep scrolling past.

<itunes:author>Ps Greg McKinnon</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2026-02-08-altars-or-thrones.jpg"/>

Don't Open the Door

There is a detail in this sermon that keeps coming back: a door. Not a dramatic entrance, not a grand metaphor, just a door, and what Ps Rachel Cartledge notices about it is the thing most of us have been quietly hoping nobody would point out.

She takes one of the oldest stories in the Bible and makes it feel uncomfortably close to home. She is not here to lecture or condemn, but she is honest enough to name what most of us would rather leave unnamed: the patterns, habits, and emotions that crouch quietly in our lives, waiting for a moment of weakness. What she shares is both a warning and a genuine source of hope, and the way she gets there might surprise you.

Jonah is one of the strangest figures in the Bible, and in this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge makes a case that he might also be the most relatable. This is not the tidy children's story that ends with a fish and a lesson about obedience. There is a fourth chapter that most people skip, and it is the part that will sit with you longest. Andrew walks through the full arc of Jonah's story, including the anger, the popcorn, the plant, and the question that hangs in the air with no resolution, and asks what it reveals about the way we actually follow God when our hearts resist what grace is doing.

Joseph knew exactly what that was like. He had a God-given dream, and then watched his life unravel, not once, not twice, but again and again.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a fresh look at one of the Bible's most well-known stories and finds something in it that might surprise you. This is not the Sunday school version. Joseph's journey from the pit to the prison to the palace is a story about what it means to stay faithful when nobody is watching, when the dream feels impossible, and when the path forward makes no sense. There is something here for anyone who has ever felt overlooked, set up, or completely out of their depth.

By the end, you will understand what Ps Andrew means when he says the palace was never really the point.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2026-01-18-everyday-heroes-joseph.jpg"/>

Everyday Hero's

Your flaws are not the problem. They never were.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a look at some of the most celebrated figures in the Bible and asks why we keep putting them on pedestals when they clearly did not deserve to be there. From fear to impatience to outright deception, these heroes had real cracks in them, and yet somehow that did not disqualify them from being used in remarkable ways. What Andrew uncovers in the story of Abraham might just reframe the way you think about your own doubts, your own failures, and what faith actually looks like when it gets tested in real time.

Maybe the thing standing between you and everything God has promised is not your circumstances at all. Maybe it is you. And maybe that is worth sitting with for a while.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2026-01-11-everyday-hero-s.jpg"/>

Everyday Heroes - Noah

God saw that the wickedness of man was great, and yet somehow, in the middle of all of it, one ordinary person kept showing up and doing the next right thing.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge kicks off a brand new series called Everyday Heroes by taking a long look at one of the most familiar Bible stories around. But don't let the familiarity fool you. This is not the children's Sunday school version. Andrew unpacks what it actually cost Noah to say yes to something he had never seen before, couldn't fully explain, and wouldn't live to fully understand. Along the way, he asks some uncomfortable questions about why we keep waiting for certainty before we take a single step forward.

By the end, Andrew lands on a phrase that is so simple it almost sounds like a letdown, until you sit with it long enough to realise it might be the most honest thing anyone has said to you about faith in a long time.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2026-01-04-everyday-heroes-noah.jpg"/>

Arise Shine

Primary Points

The failures, the shame, the sense of having gone too far. But that assumption misses something hiding in plain sight across the whole of Scripture.

In this episode, Ps Andrew and Ps Rachel Cartledge take three ancient stories that most people know only on the surface and reveal a pattern stitched through the Bible from its earliest pages. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. This service builds slowly and deliberately toward a moment around the communion table that reframes what it means to belong, to be forgiven, and to be connected to the people sitting right beside you. There is a thread running through history, and it leads directly to you. By the end, you will look around the room differently.

This sermon from Harvest Church digs into a tension that most of us feel but rarely name: the gap between where we are and where we sense we could be. Drawing on stories from Scripture that range from a widow with almost nothing to a man building a boat before rain existed, this episode unpacks three surprisingly practical moves that anyone can make right now, before anything miraculous shows up. There is something here that will challenge the way you think about readiness, generosity, and what it actually means to trust something bigger than yourself.

If you have ever felt like you are holding back until conditions are right, this one is for you.

<itunes:author>Harvest Church</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-11-23-harvest-church-sunday-service-10-30am.jpg"/>

Faith that Fails

Imagine you genuinely believe something, you could articulate it clearly if someone asked, and yet somehow you keep living like it isn't true. Not because you stopped caring. Not because you've given up. Just because there's a gap there that doesn't seem to close no matter what you do.

Andrew Cartledge gets honest about that disconnect in this episode, the one most people feel but rarely say out loud: knowing what you're supposed to believe and actually living it out are two very different things. He works through three specific reasons why faith stalls, and at least one of them will probably feel uncomfortably familiar. This isn't a pep talk and it isn't a guilt trip. It's an honest look at what gets in the way, and why the answer might be simpler and more confronting than you'd expect.

Maybe the more interesting question isn't whether your faith is failing, but which part of it is, and whether you've ever actually stopped to look.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-11-16-faith-that-fails.jpg"/>

Impossible Faith

What if the thing standing between you and everything God has for you isn't doubt, but the order you've got things in? What if you've been waiting for proof before you're willing to move, and that's exactly the problem?

In this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes an honest and sometimes uncomfortable look at a tension most people feel but rarely admit: knowing God can do something extraordinary, while quietly suspecting he probably won't. Drawing from a passage in Isaiah that most people read in isolation, he unpacks what gets missed when you pull it away from its context, and what it reveals about the way growth, faith, and action are actually meant to work together. There's a moment in here where the gap between believing and trusting becomes impossible to ignore, and it might just reframe the way you think about what you've been waiting for.

In this episode, Ps Keith Ainge walks through one of the most gripping stories in the Old Testament and finds something in it that feels startlingly relevant to everyday life. There is a journey involved, with real stopping points that look like perfectly good reasons to quit, and the tension between where you are and where you are supposed to be is something most people will recognise immediately. Keith brings in moments from his own life that are honest and a little surprising, and by the time the episode reaches its destination, the question it leaves you with is a quiet but persistent one.

Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church gets into what it really looks like to hand something worth keeping to the people coming after us. This is not a neat list of tips for parents. It goes into the messy, honest territory of how we handle money, how we treat the people around us, and the gap between the relationships we talk about and the ones we actually model. There are moments here that will make you laugh, and moments that might make you a little uncomfortable, in the best possible way.

I nodded along. I felt the same way.

In this sermon from Harvest Church, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes the final chapters of Revelation and reframes the question most of us have been asking. If you have ever wondered why the Bible's most dramatic battle scene contains almost no actual battle, you are about to find out why that might be the most important detail in the whole book. There is something here about forgiveness, about small everyday choices, and about what it actually means to fight, that cuts straight through the noise. It is not what you expect.

You just might not be seeing it yet.

In this episode, Ps Ruth Emmerson unpacks one of the most repeated ideas in the entire Bible, yet one of the most misunderstood in everyday life. She traces a thread from John the Baptist through to Jesus, from ancient parables to a connect group meeting in a country town, and somewhere in the middle she challenges the way most of us have been thinking about God's rule, God's presence, and what we actually have access to right now. This isn't a history lesson. It's an invitation to reconsider something that might be closer than you think.

The phrase Ps Ruth keeps coming back to is "at hand," and by the end of this episode, you'll never hear those two words the same way again.

<itunes:author>Ps Ruth Emmerson</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-08-24-change-your-mind.jpg"/>

Who do you say that I Am?

Join Ps Rachel Cartledge as she explores one of Jesus' most profound questions: 'Who do you say that I am?' You carry that tension quietly, wondering if there is any logic to the chaos at all.

Ps Andrew Cartledge steps into one of the most avoided corners of the entire Bible, the seals, trumpets, and bowls of Revelation, and instead of giving you a timeline or a prediction, he gives you something far more unsettling and far more hopeful. You will see a pattern hidden in plain sight, connecting creation itself to what is unfolding right now. The question of how a loving God could allow so much suffering gets turned completely on its head, and the answer is not what most people expect. This one holds together things that are usually kept apart, and it does not let you stay comfortable in the middle.

You will never hear God's love and God's wrath described as opposites again.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1786512581751-God_s_Love_vs_God_s_Wrath_-_Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

What are we doing with what we've been given?

Most people assume that if they just had a little more, they'd do a little more. More time, more money, more opportunity. But that assumption might be exactly what's getting in the way.

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin walks through one of Jesus' most confronting parables and asks a question that is simple on the surface but surprisingly difficult to sit with. You'll hear why comparison might be more spiritually dangerous than you've realised, what faithfulness actually looks like when the spotlight isn't on you, and why the gap between what you've been given and what you do with it matters more than you might think. This is the kind of conversation that has a way of sneaking up on you.

In this episode, Ps Keith Ainge takes one of the most familiar passages in the entire Bible and finds a way to make it feel completely new. He draws on shepherds, sheep, dark valleys, and a life lived through real hardship to ask what it actually means to be known, guided, and cared for by someone who has already been where you are. This is not a comfortable, tidy sermon. It is honest about the hard parts of life and surprisingly tender about what meets you there. You might be surprised by how much of it lands.

You'll come away with a quieter, clearer sense of what it means to not be alone in the places you thought no one else knew about.

<itunes:author>Ps Keith Ainge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-07-20-the-lord-my-shepherd.jpg"/>

LOOPHOLES

There's a version of faith that looks a lot like knowing all the right answers and using them to avoid actually changing anything. Ron knows that version well, and in this episode he's honest about it.

From orphanages and boarding schools to fake identities, tax schemes, and a very questionable driver's licence, Ron traces the journey of someone who understood the rules, the beliefs, the promises, and still found every possible reason not to live by them. Drawing on the parable of the prodigal son, this sermon asks a question that cuts deeper than most: what is the difference between knowing about a father and actually coming home to one? The answer might surprise you, and it might land closer to home than you're expecting.

The Throne Room of Heaven

Most people assume heaven is a quiet, hazy place, somewhere peaceful and vaguely distant. Revelation chapters four and five suggest something else entirely.

In this episode, Pastor Andrew Cartledge opens up one of the most vivid and strange scenes in all of scripture, the throne room vision where ancient creatures covered in eyes circle a throne, crowns are hurled at someone's feet, and a moment of devastating silence breaks open into something almost impossible to describe. Along the way, Andrew unpacks why a lion becomes a lamb, what thunder and lightning are doing in heaven, and why what you do on a Sunday morning might be more connected to eternity than you ever realised.

Not a metaphor, not a symbol, just a door, open, with a voice on the other side saying come up and see.

This sermon takes you into one of the most layered and vivid scenes in all of Scripture, and Pastor Andrew reads it straight through before unpacking what is actually happening inside it. What you find there is not confusion or dread but a throne room that reframes everything, the chaos you are carrying, the week that has beaten you up, the things that feel completely out of control. There is a detail near the end of this passage that most people walk straight past, and when it lands, it connects back to a moment in the Gospels that might stop you cold. This is the kind of passage you think you know until someone shows you what you have been missing.

If the door is open and the invitation is standing, the only question left is whether you will step through it.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/1786511677120-The_Throne_Room_of_Heaven_-_Ps_Andrew_Cartledge.png"/>

2. Letters from Jesus

You can do everything right, work hard, stay doctrinally sound, serve faithfully, and still be missing the one thing that matters most.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge opens up two of the most personal chapters in the book of Revelation, the letters Jesus dictated to real churches facing real pressure. What emerges is not a theological puzzle to solve but something far more confronting and far more tender. You will hear about a church that had everything going for it, and the single sentence from Jesus that stopped it cold. There is also something in the structure of these letters that, once you see it, you cannot unsee it, and it reframes the whole book entirely.

What you find instead stops you completely in your tracks.

In this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes one of the most avoided books in the Bible and reframes it from the ground up. He walks through six foundational principles for reading Revelation that most people have never encountered, and then he lands on something in the original Greek of chapter one that quietly shifts everything. The vision of Jesus in Revelation 1 is not what most people expect, and once you see it, it is hard to unsee.

In this sermon, Greg McKinnon works through one of the most vivid images Jesus ever used to describe what it looks like to follow him. There is a lot here that might surprise you, including an honest look at what the earliest followers of Jesus actually experienced, a question about whether comfort might be quietly pulling you off course, and a fresh way of thinking about pain, pruning, and what it means to actually stay. Greg brings warmth and humour to some genuinely confronting ideas, and the result is something that feels less like a lecture and more like a conversation you did not know you needed.

And what if most people miss it simply because they stopped expecting it?

In this episode, Ps Daniel Bates takes the stage on Pentecost Sunday at Harvest Church and brings something you might not expect from a church sermon: raw honesty about why so many people talk about the Holy Spirit but never actually experience anything. He traces a thread from a century-old revival on the east coast of Australia, through a family legacy that reads like something stranger than fiction, all the way to a street in Los Angeles where grown adults stood at a gate and wept without knowing why. Along the way he asks a question that might quietly unsettle you: what happens when you stop being a witness who performs and start being a person who actually receives? There is warmth here, and humour, and a few moments that are genuinely hard to explain away.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a question that sounds simple on the surface and unpacks why most of us get it completely backwards. Through a cave, a robe, a pair of scissors, and an Olympic sprint that changed everything, you will start to see honour not as a nicety or a church custom but as something with real weight and real consequences. There is a story in here that will reframe how you think about the moments when you have the upper hand, and what you choose to do with it.

This one has a way of staying with you, and you might find yourself wanting to talk it through with someone once you have heard it.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-06-01-i-live-with-an-honouring-heart.jpg"/>

The Faithful

...and then Jesus looks at a church that's doing everything right, doctrinally sound, working hard, enduring real suffering, and still finds something missing at the very centre of it.

That tension is what sits at the heart of this sermon from Ps Andrew Cartledge, and it doesn't stay comfortable for long. Drawing from the letters to the seven churches in Revelation, this message moves through some uncomfortable territory, asking honest questions about what it actually looks like to follow Jesus when the culture is pushing back hard. There's a moment in here that shifts the whole conversation, where the idea of "conquering" gets completely reframed, and it's not what most people expect. If you've ever felt the slow drift of going through the motions, or the quiet pressure to just blend in, this one is worth your full attention.

On the other, there's the daily reality of pushing harder, trying to be better, and wondering why it never quite works.

In this sermon from Galatians 5, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a surprisingly honest look at what it actually means to live by the Spirit, not just believe in it. He gets into the stuff nobody likes to talk about, including a very long list in the Bible that might hit closer to home than you'd expect. Along the way there's a story about Roger Bannister, a jar of ping pong balls, and a question that reframes everything: it's not whether you have the Spirit, it's whether the Spirit has you.

Most of us have been there, pushing through hard seasons and hoping the feeling of joy will eventually show up if we just hold it together long enough.

In this episode, Ps Ruth Emmerson takes a look at what joy really is, and just as importantly, what it isn't. She cuts through the noise around happiness, positive thinking, and spiritual performance to get to something that feels surprisingly honest and grounded. You'll hear why the people who seem to carry the most joy are rarely the ones with the easiest lives, and what that tells us about where this kind of joy actually comes from.

This one's for anyone who's starting to wonder if there's something more solid underneath all the striving.

<itunes:author>Ps Ruth Emmerson</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-05-18-i-live-on-the-bright-side.jpg"/>

I Live and Learn

The harder you try to grow, the more your blind spots tend to stay exactly where they are. That tension is at the centre of this episode, and it turns out the reason most of us stay stuck isn't our circumstances, our past, or even our struggles. It's the posture of our heart.

Ps Caleb McLaughlin takes a look at what it really means to stay teachable, and why so many of us end up repeating the same patterns, the same arguments, and the same frustrations year after year without ever quite figuring out why. Through a surprisingly relatable story from a mechanic shop, some honest reflections on pride, and a closer look at what scripture actually says about humility and growth, this episode will have you asking some questions about yourself that you might have been avoiding. It's the kind of conversation that doesn't let you off the hook easily, but somehow still feels like an invitation rather than a lecture.

Are you actually open to growing, or just telling yourself you are?

But there is a gap between what we say we believe and how we actually live, and it is more revealing than most of us are comfortable admitting.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a close look at what faith actually is, and it might not be what you think. He works through some of the most common ways people misunderstand faith, including the versions that sound spiritual but quietly let us off the hook. There is a moment in this sermon where the distinction between faith and faithfulness lands in a way that is hard to shake, and it raises a question worth sitting with long after you finish listening.

But Ps Andrew Cartledge thinks that framing misses the point entirely, and in this Easter Sunday sermon from Harvest Church, he makes a quiet but convincing case for why.

Drawing from 1 Peter, he opens up what it actually means to live with expectation. Not as a vague religious sentiment, not as wishful thinking, but as something anchored in a real historical moment. He walks through the difference between approaching life from a "before Friday" perspective and an "after Sunday" one, and why that single shift changes the way you face whatever is in front of you right now. This is the kind of sermon that meets you where you are, whatever you walked in carrying.

It asks something of us that is hard to name, a weight that sits just beneath the surface of the story, and it is easy to move through it quickly just to get to Sunday.

In this Good Friday service from Harvest Church, Ps Andrew Cartledge traces the final hours of Jesus with a focus that might surprise you. From the last supper to the garden to the trial, there is a thread running through this story that reframes everything you thought you knew about why Good Friday is called good. He isn't focused on his own circumstances. He's thinking about the people who will read his words, the ones he loves and hasn't stopped praying for, the ones he's given his life to serve.

That posture, of living genuinely oriented toward others, is what Alison Creek unpacks in this sermon. She gets honest about what it actually looks like day to day, not as an inspiring concept but as something you'd have to choose over and over again. She brings an in-the-room illustration that will quietly reframe where you see yourself in the picture, and she walks through three areas of life that most of us would rather skip past. There's something here whether you feel stretched thin from giving or you're not sure you have much to offer. Alison speaks with warmth and no pretension, and this one has a way of settling in slowly and staying there.

Ps Andrew Cartledge opens with a jaw-dropping real-life story from the Mornington Peninsula, and it sets up something worth sitting with: what does it actually mean to build your life on something that holds? This is not a lecture about reading your Bible more. It is an honest look at why so many people find themselves standing in the rubble of things they thought were secure, and what the difference is between people who make it through the hard seasons and people who don't. You might be surprised how practical and direct this gets.

This is probably one to listen to with someone else nearby, because you will want to talk about it after.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-03-30-i-live-through-the-word.jpg"/>

I Live Generously

And the frustrating thing is, you already know this on some level. Holding on tighter has never actually made you feel more secure. Chasing more has never quite delivered the satisfaction you were hoping for. Yet every instinct you have keeps pulling you in that direction anyway.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge explores one of the most counterintuitive ideas in human history, that giving freely actually makes you better off than holding on. She brings in some surprising science, a story about a Samaritan that is stranger than you might remember, and a refreshingly honest look at why generosity is so hard even for people who genuinely want to be good. This is not a lecture about money. It is a conversation about time, about sacrifice, about what it actually costs to be the kind of person who shows up for others, and whether you are willing to go there.

Find out what Ps Rachel means when she asks whether you are willing to cross the road.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-03-23-i-live-generously.jpg"/>

Strong & Courageous

There's a version of faith that looks a lot like standing still. You know what you've been promised, you can almost see it from where you are, but everything in front of you feels too big, too uncertain, too much. And so you wait. Most of us have been there more times than we'd like to admit.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into one of the oldest leadership moments in the Bible and finds something that feels surprisingly current. He traces the story of twelve ordinary people sent to scout out a promised land, and asks why only two of them are remembered. From there, he unpacks a three-word command repeated three times in four verses, explores what it actually means in the original Hebrew, and lands on four conditions that separate people who inherit a promise from people who just talk about it. There is something here about individual courage, something about what happens when a community decides to move together, and something about the kind of obedience that most of us quietly avoid.

You won't hear courage the same way again.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-03-16-strong-courageous.jpg"/>

Keys to Breakthough

A man stands outside a closed door and knocks. He keeps knocking. The promise Jesus gives in Matthew 7 sounds simple enough, almost too simple, but most people have heard it so many times it barely registers anymore.

In this episode, Ps Phil Shand brings a surprisingly practical and honest look at what breakthrough actually requires. He draws on that familiar promise and unpacks it in a way that might catch you off guard. There are three specific keys he works through, and each one challenges a quiet assumption you might not even know you're carrying. Whether you're facing something in your health, your relationships, your finances, or just a low season you can't seem to climb out of, this episode has something worth sitting with.

Maybe the question isn't whether the door opens. Maybe it's whether you've been standing in the right place all along.

<itunes:author>Ps Phil Shand</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-03-09-keys-to-breakthough.jpg"/>

Reaching the World

In this powerful message, we explore the transformative journey of loving God, growing together, and reaching the world. In this sermon, Ron Spence draws on one of the darkest stories in the entire Bible to explore a distinction most people have never stopped to consider: the difference between changing your mind and having a change of heart. He connects an ancient royal tragedy to the quiet epidemic happening in churches, communities, and families right now, and the picture he paints is both unsettling and strangely hopeful. Along the way, he shares some surprisingly candid moments from his own life and the lives of people he loves, and the honesty of it lands harder than any polished argument could.

This is the kind of episode worth coming back to, because the thing it's asking you to guard is easy to forget and costly to lose.

<itunes:author>Ps Ron Spence</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2025-02-09-change-of-heart-9th-february-2025.jpg"/>

An Everyday Faith

Most people assume that feeling stuck or exhausted in their spiritual life means they're not trying hard enough. More discipline, more effort, more willpower. That's the usual answer. But what if the pressure itself is the problem, and the whole framework is off?

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin from Harvest Church takes an honest look at why so many of us feel the gap between who we want to be and where we actually are. He explores what it really looks like to follow Jesus not as a goal to achieve or a box to tick, but as something lived out one ordinary day at a time. Along the way, he unpacks a familiar prayer that most people have heard but few have sat with long enough to notice what it's actually saying about daily surrender, daily struggle, and daily provision.

But it turns out to be a surprisingly good place to find it.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge opens up a corner of the Bible most people have never visited, and finds a story that is far stranger and more compelling than anyone expects. A captive nation, a pagan king with an unlikely nudge from God, and a rebuilding project that nobody should have been able to afford, let alone get funded by the very empire that took everything in the first place. But woven through the history and the genealogies is something that reaches right into the present: questions about resistance, resolve, identity, and what it actually looks like to return to something you thought was gone for good. This one moves between ancient Babylon and everyday life faster than you'd think possible.

The book of Ezra has something to say about the life you are trying to rebuild right now. The plans are gone, the familiar is gone, and you're left wondering how you got here and where here even is.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge shares something she almost didn't preach. Starting with an honest look at a year marked by loss, grief, and unexpected change, she traces a thread from ancient ruins to a simple drive past scorched bushland, and finds a promise tucked inside one of the oldest books of the Bible. What unfolds is a surprisingly tender exploration of what it looks like when hope shows up in the last place you'd think to look for it, and what it might cost you to hold onto the rubble instead.

Ps Andrew Cartledge gets into something most of us would rather avoid, especially around Christmas. There's a moment in this sermon where a single paragraph gets read aloud and the room goes silent, because everyone recognises themselves in it. That moment alone is worth your time.

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin unpacks a moment in John chapter 9 that is easy to overlook but surprisingly hard to shake. A man who spent his whole life blind gets caught in the middle of a religious controversy he never asked for, and the only thing he can fall back on is the one thing he knows for certain. What starts as a story about a miracle quickly becomes something much more personal, about the difference between knowing facts and knowing someone, and why that distinction matters more than most of us realise. Ps Caleb is honest about uncertainty, refreshingly funny, and gets to something real about what it looks like to keep moving when you do not have all the answers.

Not the walls or the roof or the things people can see from the street, but the foundation underneath all of it.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a question that sounds simple on the surface and follows it somewhere unexpected. Starting with one of the most familiar passages in the Bible, he unpacks why hearing the right things is not enough, and why the gap between knowing and doing might be the most important distance any of us ever has to close. Along the way, he brings in an ancient blueprint for a flourishing life that is surprisingly straightforward, and asks some honest questions about what is actually shaping you from the inside out.

Not the big stuff, maybe, but the way we hold back. The way we keep things tidy. The way we call it wisdom when it might actually be resistance.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a sharp turn from his planned message because sometimes the most honest thing a preacher can do is follow where he's being led. He unpacks why so many people, including committed churchgoers, quietly push back against the Holy Spirit, through their habits, their theology, their sin, and even their comfort. Along the way, he draws on some surprising moments from Scripture and from his own experience that will make you rethink what you thought you knew about how God moves.

In this episode, Ps Keith Ainge brings a grounded and honest conversation about what it really looks like to step outside the ordinary and say yes when it costs you something. Ps Rachel Cartledge starts there, in that ordinary, uncomfortable place most of us know but rarely say out loud.

She walks through a surprisingly honest list of signs that we might be running on empty spiritually, and most of us will recognise more than one. She draws on one of the most raw and personal poems in all of ancient literature, written by a man who had everything and still found himself completely hollow inside, to explore what genuine renewal actually looks like and what it costs. It's not a guilt trip, and it's not a pep talk. It's something more honest than either of those things.

Give it a listen and find out what it really takes to start again.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-10-13-month-of-prayer-renewal.jpg"/>

Month of Prayer - Repentance

Everyone wants the blessing, but almost nobody wants what comes before it. That tension sits right at the heart of this episode, and it turns out it's been sitting in plain sight inside a passage most of us thought we already knew.

Ps Andrew Cartledge opens up a familiar section of Joel and finds something that tends to get quietly skipped over. He traces a cycle that runs through some of the most dramatic moments in the Old Testament, a pattern that turns out to look uncomfortably close to where we are right now, in our own lives and in Australian culture. There's a kids' relay race, some stolen chocolate, and a moment where ancient Judah and modern Australia end up closer together than feels comfortable. This isn't a tidy, reassuring conversation about faith. It's an honest look at what we've been avoiding and why it might matter more than we've been willing to admit.

What does it cost to actually want the whole thing, not just the part that feels good?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-10-06-month-of-prayer-repentance.jpg"/>

Our Father

Most of us learned to pray the way we learned to speak in front of a class at school: technically fine, but quietly hoping we're doing it right and that nobody notices how uncertain we feel. That low-grade awkwardness around prayer is more common than you might think, and it usually traces back to a misunderstanding that goes all the way back to the beginning.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge shares a story from his childhood that reframes everything about how we approach God. You'll hear why most people quietly struggle with prayer, what a torn curtain has to do with your everyday life, and how two small words at the start of the most famous prayer ever prayed might completely shift the way you see yourself and God. This one starts somewhere unexpected and ends up somewhere worth going.

What if those two words have always meant more than you realised?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-09-29-our-father.jpg"/>

The Heart of an Armour Bearer

Are you ready to embrace the heart of an armor bearer? This message emphasizes the importance of personal evangelism, rooted in Isaiah 6:8 - 'Here I am. Send me.' We're all called to be evangelists in our daily lives, not just those with a specific gift. The main barriers to sharing our faith often stem from fear - fear of inadequacy, losing reputation, rejection, or appearing hypocritical. To overcome these, we're encouraged to follow Jesus' example of compassion and love for others. The message outlines five key components for effective evangelism: prayer, loving others, sharing the gospel message, telling our personal story, and being obedient despite the results. We're reminded that our job is to sow seeds, while God brings the harvest.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-09-08-how-to-talk-about-jesus.jpg"/>

Life Lessons from Golf

In this engaging exploration, we're challenged to examine our integrity through the lens of golf and biblical stories. Joseph's unwavering integrity in the face of temptation from Potiphar's wife serves as a powerful example. The message emphasizes that our true character is revealed when no one is watching, drawing parallels between the hidden moments on a golf course and our daily lives. The story of Joseph from Genesis 43 serves as a backdrop to illustrate how we can sometimes get caught up in 'donkey mentalities' - focusing on small, insignificant issues while missing God's bigger picture. We're encouraged to shift our perspective, understanding that God is always moving in our lives, even when we can't see it. The message emphasizes the need to activate our faith through prayer and immersion in God's Word, reminding us that God delights not only in our worship but also in our requests. This teaching challenges us to maintain a healthy disconnect from constant discouragement, drawing inspiration from biblical figures who persevered through trials. As we reflect on these insights, we're inspired to nurture a faith that's ready for the big things God has in store for us.

<itunes:author>Ps Matt Heins</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-08-25-great-faith.jpg"/>

Holy Spirit Fire

There's a fire that doesn't consume. It shows up in some of the strangest corners of Scripture, and it has a way of finding people who weren't even looking for it.

In this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes you through some of the most vivid and unexpected moments in the Bible, from a bizarre ancient covenant ceremony involving split animals, to a shepherd who almost walked straight past the most important conversation of his life. Along the way, he builds a case for something that quietly challenges the way most of us think about what it means to follow Jesus. This isn't a tidy theological lecture. It's honest, a little raw, and at times surprisingly funny.

The thing you've been missing in your faith probably isn't more knowledge, more discipline, or more effort. It might just be a fire you can't manufacture on your own. And it turns out, that fire is closer than you think.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-08-18-holy-spirit-fire.jpg"/>

The Lord is Near

In this powerful exploration of Philippians 4, we're reminded of the transformative power of joy and contentment in our Christian walk. The central message revolves around the profound truth that 'the Lord is near.' This simple yet profound statement serves as the foundation for overcoming anxiety, finding peace, and living a life of rejoicing. We're encouraged to shift our focus from worldly concerns to the presence of God, bringing all our worries to Him in prayer with thanksgiving. This practice unlocks a peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The message challenges us to examine how we interpret and apply Scripture, urging us to consider the full context rather than isolated verses. It's a call to root our contentment and joy not in circumstances, but in our relationship with Christ.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-08-11-the-lord-is-near.jpg"/>

Tackling The Tensions

In this powerful message, we explore the concept of divine tensions in our faith journey. We're reminded that not all tension is negative - in fact, it's often necessary for growth and strength. Just as a suspension bridge needs tension to function, our spiritual lives often require us to hold seemingly contradictory truths in balance. The Bible itself is full of these 'divine tensions' or paradoxes - like being both a new creation and still being transformed, or experiencing both suffering and glory. Rather than seeing these as contradictions, we're encouraged to approach them with curiosity and humility, like Moses approaching the burning bush. By using our 'spiritual eyes' and stepping closer to investigate, we may find that these tensions are actually holy ground where God reveals Himself to us.

<itunes:author>Ps Ruth Emmerson</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-08-04-tackling-the-tensions.jpg"/>

Uncomfortable Comfortability

...and that's the thing nobody really wants to say out loud. The thing standing between you and the life you actually want probably isn't a lack of faith or effort. It's something you've been holding onto so tightly you've stopped noticing it's even there. And the cost of letting go can feel so heavy that even a genuinely good person could walk away from the best thing they've ever been offered.

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin opens up a familiar Bible story and finds something uncomfortable sitting right at the centre of it. He explores why so many of us can be passionate, sincere, and genuinely hungry for more, and still find ourselves stuck in the same place. You might recognise yourself in the story more than you expect, and the areas where we get stuck might be closer to home than you'd like to admit.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge walks through two contrasting stories, one from ancient history and one from the writings of a man who lost everything and called it the best thing that ever happened to him. Along the way, he uses baseball, a DeLorean, and a pillar of salt to explore something that most of us do without even noticing: dragging the past into the future and wondering why we never seem to arrive. This is not a guilt trip and it is not a pep talk. It is something more honest than either of those things.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the most misunderstood tensions in the Christian life: the gap between what we say we believe and how we actually live it out. Drawing from the book of Philippians, he unpacks why unity keeps falling apart, what humility actually costs, and why a donkey illustration might be one of the most honest descriptions of how Christians treat each other you will ever hear. There is also a surprising look at a literary device buried in an ancient letter that changes the way you see the entire story of Jesus.

Paul wrote those words from a prison cell, and somehow they read less like despair and more like freedom.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge opens up the Book of Philippians and takes us inside the story of a man writing about joy from exactly that kind of place. Before he gets to the good stuff, he lays some groundwork about how we read the Bible that might just change the way you've been approaching it your whole life. There's history, there's context, and there's a thread running through it all that connects ancient suffering to something deeply relevant right now.

The worst thing that happened to Paul might be the reason you're encouraged today.

That is the quiet realisation at the centre of this episode, and Ps Rachel Cartledge traces it back to a sleepless night, a familiar verse, and a single Greek word from 1 Peter 5 that reframes what handing something over actually looks like. Because most of us do hand things over, at least briefly, and then we quietly take them back before anything can change. She looks at why that happens, and she builds a portrait of the kind of God you are supposedly trusting with your heaviest stuff. It is more specific and more compelling than you might expect.

Ps Andrew Cartledge wants to suggest otherwise.

In this episode, Ps Andrew takes Harvest Church through what it actually means to be a church that looks beyond its own walls. He gets into the uncomfortable questions about why any local church should care about what happens on the other side of the world, and he does not let the audience off the hook easily. You will hear stories that are hard to forget, meet some remarkable people doing extraordinary things in places most of us will never visit, and find yourself rethinking what it means to be part of something bigger than your own backyard. Children in Kolkata, farmers in Georgia, street kids in Lesotho: all of them somehow connected to a congregation in a small Australian country town.

There has never been a better moment to reconsider what your local church is actually for, and this conversation is a good place to start.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-06-02-on-mission.jpg"/>

Pentecost Sunday

Somewhere in the middle of this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge mentions that Pentecost was not a new idea. It was a Jewish festival long before it became a Christian moment, and that one small detail quietly reframes everything that follows.

From there, he traces a thread from ancient harvests all the way to a room full of people waiting for something they had never seen before, and then brings that same moment into ordinary, everyday life. There is more here than tongues and fire. Ps Andrew unpacks four markers that most Pentecostal churches rarely talk about, and at least one of them will probably catch you off guard.

But what if what you have is so small you almost didn't mention it?

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes an ancient story from the book of Second Kings and opens it up in a way that feels surprisingly personal and immediate. She brings her own moments of feeling completely out of her depth, as a mum, as a student, as someone standing in front of a room wondering if she has anything worth giving. What unfolds is a conversation about what happens when we stop pretending we have it together and bring our nothing to the table instead. This is not a tidy, triumphant story. It is honest, warm, and at times unexpectedly funny.

This one might ask you to look a little honestly at whatever small thing you've been quietly dismissing as not enough. If you're not quite ready for that, it can wait. Or the opposite, when things are genuinely hard and you're watching other people seem completely at peace and you can't figure out how they're doing it?

Ps Caleb McLaughlin takes an honest look at what joy actually is, and what it is not. He gets into the gap between the kind of happiness the world chases and something far more grounded, something that holds up when life gets hard. Through a handful of unexpectedly funny personal stories and some passages from the Bible that hit differently in context, Caleb builds a case for why real joy might be less about feeling good and more about what you know to be true. This one gets personal toward the end, and that is where it gets genuinely interesting.

There is a thread running through this passage that connects identity, purpose, and promise in a way that might quietly challenge some assumptions you have carried for a long time. In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into one of the most misunderstood moments in the entire Christian story, the day that changed everything and set in motion something that is still unfolding today. He explores what was actually happening in that upper room, why it mattered then, and what it means for ordinary people living ordinary lives right now. You will hear some ideas that might surprise you, some that might challenge you, and at least one that might make you rethink something you thought you already had figured out.

So what would it mean if you had been missing this all along?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Light It Up

On one side, there's a world that feels increasingly dark. On the other, there's a church full of people carrying something that could change that, who aren't quite sure they're supposed to use it.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes a familiar phrase from the Sermon on the Mount and unpacks what it actually means to be called the light of the world. Not as a metaphor to feel good about, but as a responsibility that changes how you live every single day. She explores what the moon has to do with your faith, why darkness never stands a chance, and what it looks like when Christians stop treating their role in the world as an optional extra. There's a moment in here involving a nearly empty petrol tank on a dark highway that will stick with you longer than you might expect.

On the other, there is the moment it is taken away, and you are left standing in front of other people trying to find something to say.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes an honest look at what happens when life does not deliver what we expected, and how we respond when disappointment cuts deeper than just a bad day. Drawing from an often overlooked story tucked away in the Old Testament, he traces the journey of a woman who faced loss in layers, and whose response to each one is surprising, even unsettling. There is something in this story about the gap between what we confess and what we feel, and how those two things can exist at the same time without one canceling out the other.

But Ps Rachel Cartledge makes a compelling case that it runs much deeper than that.

In this episode, she takes us into one of the most gripping moments in the Old Testament, where twelve leaders are sent on the same mission, see the same land, and come back with reports that could not be more different. What set one man apart from the rest is not what you might expect, and the question Ps Rachel builds toward is deeply personal: which kind of spirit do you actually have? This is a sermon that challenges you to look honestly at what you focus on, what you remember, and what you really believe when the odds feel stacked against you.

Caleb saw the same giants everyone else saw. The difference was what he did with that.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-03-26-a-different-spirit.jpg"/>

Passion of the Church

Genuine passion. Not the kind you talk about, but the kind that actually changes how you live, how you move, and what you're willing to give up.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge walks through one of the most striking moments in the Gospel of Mark, where Jesus is out ahead of the crowd on the road to Jerusalem, and something about the way he is walking stops people in their tracks. What was it that the crowd could sense? And what does that moment have to do with the way you and I are living right now? This sermon pulls together big questions about sacrifice, identity, and what we actually value, weaving in some unexpected moments of humour and honesty that make the hard stuff land in a real way. There is something here for anyone who has ever wondered whether faith is supposed to feel like more than this.

Is it possible you already know the answer, and just haven't wanted to sit with it yet?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Passion of the Cross

Three times. Jesus says the same thing three times, and each time his disciples walk away and do something that proves they weren't listening. That detail alone says something worth sitting with.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the more confronting moments in the gospel of Mark, where Jesus makes a shocking prediction, his disciples completely miss the point, and then get caught red-handed arguing about something that reveals a lot more about human nature than most of us are comfortable admitting. There is a reason Jesus had to repeat himself, and understanding why tells you something important about how we all think and what it actually takes to change. This one moves between ancient roads in Galilee and the very modern pressures of comparison, status, and what we secretly believe makes someone worth something.

That assumption is worth questioning.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a word we think we understand and turns it completely inside out. He traces three very different kinds of passion, from the desires that quietly pull us off course, to the widespread numbness that has settled over everyday life, to something far older and more costly than either. What he uncovers in the Gospel of Mark is not what most people expect when they hear the word "passion," and that surprise is exactly the point. If you've ever felt like you're just going through the motions, or wondered why your faith feels like it's running on empty, this one is going to get under your skin.

Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the strangest and most unsettling passages in the Bible, a moment where God sends a prophet with a message that seems almost designed to fail. But as Andrew unpacks the thread running from Isaiah through to Jesus and the New Testament, something unexpected emerges about what it actually takes to hear, see, and receive what God is saying. It is not the message that needs to change. It is the condition of the person receiving it. This episode asks some honest questions about what it looks like when our hearts, eyes, and ears are closed without us even realising it.

You will not hear the word "open" the same way again.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-03-03-open.jpg"/>

You Need A Bigger Light

Most of us assume that when life feels dark or empty, we just need more: more comfort, more distraction, more of whatever has worked before. The problem is, that assumption tends to quietly make things worse.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes one bold statement from Jesus and unpacks why it matters more than most of us realise. She traces it back to an ancient celebration, a temple full of flickering lamps, and a moment that was anything but coincidental. Along the way, she gets surprisingly honest about the things we all quietly try when we think no one is looking, and why none of them quite do the job. This is the kind of conversation that starts in scripture and ends somewhere very close to home.

If you have a few minutes today, sit with this one and ask yourself honestly whether the light you have been settling for is actually enough.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2024-02-25-you-need-a-bigger-light.jpg"/>

You Will Be My Witnesses

Being sent somewhere you've never been, by someone you don't fully know, to say something you're still working out: that is the tension sitting at the heart of this episode, and Ps Andrew Cartledge doesn't let you skip past it.

Before getting to the "go," he spends time on the "who," unpacking the identity of Jesus and the weight of what he actually accomplished. By the time he lands on Acts 1:8, the familiar words carry a different kind of gravity. This is a sermon about witnesses, but it is really asking whether you know what you are testifying to, and whether that changes how you live from Monday onwards.

Somewhere in the middle of it all, he stops on a single word in that passage. Not "go," not "witness," but "will." In this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a close look at one of the most confronting moments in the entire Bible, where a man comes face to face with something so overwhelming it brings him to his knees. What follows is a sequence that is raw, unexpected, and oddly familiar. There is something in this passage that cuts through the noise of everyday life and asks a question most of us would rather not sit with too long. This is not a comfortable sermon, but it is an honest one, and it builds toward something worth hearing.

That small moment turned out to be the thread that unravelled something much bigger.

Ps Andrew Cartledge returns from Uganda with something he wasn't expecting, and it has nothing to do with what he saw on a screen or read in a book. In this episode, he shares an honest, unfiltered account of what it felt like to have his assumptions quietly dismantled, one encounter at a time. There are moments here that will make you rethink comfort, comparison, and what it actually means to rely on something bigger than yourself. This is not a guilt trip. It is an invitation to see differently.

But what if the harder problem isn't tracking the wind, it's actually stopping long enough to notice it's blowing?

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin takes a close look at a story from the book of Acts that is equal parts ordinary and extraordinary. He explores what it actually takes to notice what God might be doing in the middle of a busy, distracted, everyday life, and why being spiritually ready is only half the equation. There's something in here about a tuna pasta bake, a 3am prayer walk gone wrong, and a conversation that probably changed the course of someone's eternal life, all of which point to the same uncomfortable question: are we actually prepared to respond when the moment arrives?

You can't see where the wind is going. But Philip could. In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a familiar story and pulls back a layer most people never get to see. From a field in Galilee to a manger in Bethlehem to a cross outside Jerusalem, he traces a thread through scripture that connects bread, blood, and covenant in a way that makes the whole thing feel less like religion and more like a story that was always building toward something. If you have ever sat through a communion service and wondered what you were actually supposed to be feeling, this episode might help you understand why it matters more than you thought.

That the right path will come with some sense of peace, or at least the absence of hostility. This episode quietly dismantles that idea.

Ps Caleb McLaughlin shares a story from his own life that is equal parts honest and unexpected. He takes us into a world far from church culture, where his faith was treated less like something to be respected and more like a target. Along the way, he draws a surprising connection to one of the oldest figures in the Bible and what that ancient story might say about the situations we find ourselves in today. This is not a tidy, theoretical talk. It is personal, it is grounded, and it asks something real of the listener.

Ps Rachel Cartledge takes a fresh look at three women from the Christmas story whose lives were marked by disappointment, uncertainty, and loss. Each one faced circumstances that could have broken them, and each one made a choice that changed everything. Most of us know that feeling well, even if we rarely say it out loud.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into a tension that most of us feel but rarely talk about honestly: the pull between the life we say we want and the habits we keep returning to. Drawing on the story of ancient Israel and some surprisingly raw reflections on his own struggles, Andrew walks through practices that are less about trying harder and more about reorienting everything. There is a moment in this sermon where he asks a question about holiness and what it means for how we represent Christ in ordinary life that might just stop you in your tracks. It is not a comfortable question, but it is a genuinely important one.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge tackles one of the topics people least expect to hear about on a Sunday morning, and does it without apology. He digs into some deeply held assumptions about wealth, generosity, and what it actually means to trust God with your finances. You might find yourself nodding along, or you might find yourself quietly uncomfortable, and either way that's probably a good sign.

If you've ever felt like financial freedom was for other people, or wondered whether faith and money even belong in the same conversation, this one is worth your time.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge gets honest about one of the most uncomfortable topics in the Christian life: submission. Not the kind that gets preached at you like a rule, but the kind that Jesus himself practised in the garden when everything in him wanted a different outcome. You'll hear a fresh take on the difference between commitment and submission, and why that distinction might be the thing that changes how you navigate authority, frustration, and the moments when life doesn't go the way you planned. In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church gets honest about why so many people feel spiritually stuck even when they genuinely want more. He draws on some surprising tensions in Scripture, a steak dinner analogy you will not forget, and a simple but confronting question about what you are actually offering God with your time. This is the first in a series exploring practices that have been around for centuries but that most modern believers have quietly abandoned without realising the cost.

She unpacks the tension between doing and being, between serving and sitting, and why so many of us are spiritually running on empty despite giving everything we have. You might be surprised by what she says is the real cause of burnout, and even more surprised by what she says is the cure. This is not a guilt trip about what you are missing. It is more like a conversation about what is already waiting for you.

It's the kind most of us practise more than we'd like to admit, the vague, hopeful kind where we're not sure anyone's actually listening, and we're not sure it matters either way.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the most specific and practical passages in the Bible about prayer and healing, and what he finds there might challenge some assumptions you didn't even know you had. There's a kind of prayer described in James chapter 5 that is very different from the default version, and Andrew makes a sharp distinction between the two. He also gets into why forgiveness and unconfessed sin might be more connected to physical healing than most people ever consider, and what it actually looks like for a church community to take that seriously together.

If you've ever wondered whether prayer does anything real, this one is worth your time right now.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Warnings Against Sin

Honestly, most of us assume we're doing okay spiritually as long as we're not doing anything obviously wrong. That assumption might be worth questioning.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through a passage in James that has a way of getting under your skin. He unpacks three specific patterns that most people never think of as sin, and at least one of them will probably sound uncomfortably familiar. There's a story from a village in the Philippines that stops the sermon in its tracks, a reference to the final episode of Seinfeld that lands harder than you'd expect, and a question about your own community that might be harder to shake than you'd like.

If you're someone who tends to feel quietly confident about where your life is headed, this one is especially for you.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

The War Within

The biggest battle most of us are fighting isn't out there in the world. It's somewhere much closer, and it has a way of spilling into our relationships, our communities, and even our churches before we realise what's happening.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into one of the most honest and confronting passages in the New Testament, and what he finds there might make you uncomfortable in the best possible way. He tackles some questions most of us quietly wrestle with: why do we keep doing the things we hate, why do Christians fight each other, and why do we expect the world to behave like it already knows Jesus? There is a moment in this sermon where he makes a point about judgment and the world that is genuinely surprising, and it has a way of shifting how you see things around you. The answer he lands on is simple, but sitting with it is anything but easy.

Settle in and let this one land.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

The Right Tools

Put on the full armour of God. It's one of those instructions that sounds simple until you actually try to live it.

Most of us walk into difficult situations feeling underprepared, whether that's conflict at home, pressure at work, or the quiet sense that something bigger is working against us. But what if the problem isn't your circumstances, it's that you haven't equipped yourself properly for them?

In this Father's Day sermon from Harvest Church, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a familiar passage from Ephesians and makes it feel anything but familiar. Expect tool belts, steel cap boots, a fire extinguisher, and one very stubborn belt buckle. Beneath the laughs, though, there's a genuinely honest conversation happening about strength, what it really means, where it actually comes from, and why so many people are walking through life without the things they need most.

You won't hear "put on the full armour" the same way again.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2023-09-03-the-right-tools.jpg"/>

The War of Wisdom

Imagine you're making a decision you feel genuinely good about, confident, even a little proud of your own clear thinking. Now imagine finding out that the very instinct guiding you might be the problem.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge unpacks a tension hiding inside a few short verses from the book of James, and the picture it paints is surprisingly confronting. There are two kinds of wisdom on offer, and according to James, one of them is described in terms that might genuinely catch you off guard. This isn't a neat self-help framework. It's an honest look at what drives our decisions, our comparisons, and our ambitions, and what it actually looks like to operate from something better.

Not for the polished answer, not for what sounds good, but for what you actually want. For your life, your family, your community.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes that question somewhere you might not expect. Along the way you will hear about a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes, a stranger showing up at a front door, and a servant who climbs a mountain seven times looking for something that isn't there yet. This is a sermon about vision, about the gap between what we can see and what might actually be possible, and about why so many of us stay stuck somewhere in between.

If you have been sitting with a sense that something more is possible but you can't quite name it, this is probably the right episode for this moment.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2023-08-13-what-do-you-want.jpg"/>

Taming the Tongue

The tongue is the one part of you that can build someone up and tear them apart with equal ease, sometimes in the same conversation. That tension sits right at the heart of James chapter 3, and it turns out the Bible has more to say about it than most of us are comfortable admitting.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a close look at one of the most honest and uncomfortable passages in the Bible. He walks through the kind of tongue trouble most of us recognise but rarely talk about openly, from gossip and harsh words to outbursts of anger and the quiet poison of flattery. There are no easy answers here, but there is a surprisingly practical framework for understanding why our words get away from us, and what it actually looks like to bring them under control.

By the end, you will have a clearer picture of what James actually says about the one part of your body that might be running the rest of your life, and a few honest questions worth sitting with.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Childlike Faith

They say faith can move mountains, but nobody tells you that getting there might mean unlearning almost everything you thought you knew.

In this episode, Ps Caleb McLaughlin brings a refreshingly honest perspective to a passage that is easy to skip past but hard to sit with once you really hear it. He asks what it actually means to have a childlike faith, not in a sentimental way, but in a way that might quietly challenge where you've landed in your own journey. From a shopping bag full of bricks to a very embarrassing skate park incident, Caleb uses some genuinely funny moments to get at something that cuts a lot deeper. That's not just a metaphor. It's a warning.

Most of us assume that more input equals more growth. More sermons, more worship, more Bible reading. But there's a hidden problem that doesn't get talked about much, and it might be the very reason so many people feel stuck, flat, or spiritually empty.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a detour through the Dead Sea, the book of James, and one of the most unexpectedly honest metaphors you'll ever hear in a church setting. He lays out six signs that something might be blocking your faith from actually going anywhere, and then gets into what it looks like when faith stops being something you collect and starts being something that moves. It's direct, it's a little uncomfortable, and it just might be the conversation you didn't know you needed.

Find out which side of the equation you're actually on.

It is already inside you, waiting for the right moment.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge gets honest about why temptation rarely announces itself as something big, how the world keeps quietly shifting the goalposts on what is and is not acceptable, and what it actually looks like to hold your ground when giving in seems like the easier, smarter, or even more reasonable option. Through two very different biblical stories, he shows what triumph over temptation can cost you, and why it is still worth it.

The pull you feel toward the things you know you should walk away from, it is telling you something. But for a lot of people, it's the first thing that goes.

In this opening episode of a brand new series through the Book of James, Ps Andrew Cartledge brings something deeply personal into the room, something raw and unresolved, and uses it to explore what it actually means to hold on when the ground disappears beneath you. This isn't a tidy sermon with easy answers. It's an honest look at why hard things happen to faithful people, and what James has to say about the kind of faith that survives the fire.

If you're someone who has believed, trusted, done everything right, and still watched something fall apart, this one is for you.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Tools of the Trade

You grab your phone at 10pm because sleep isn't coming, or you sit with a sickness that won't shift after weeks, or you find yourself replaying an accusing thought you can't seem to shake. In those moments, most people don't think to reach for anything they picked up at church. And that gap, the one between Sunday morning and the rest of real life, might be costing more than you realise.

Ps Ruth Emmerson brings a warmth and directness that makes you feel like you're sitting across from someone who genuinely wants you to win at life. She walks through a set of practical tools designed not just for Sunday mornings but for those exact moments described above, the late nights, the long weeks, the voices that get too loud. This isn't a lecture about trying harder. It's more like being handed something you didn't know you were missing.

Jesus told them to go, and then told them to stay. So they wait, for ten days, while the city fills up around them with thousands of pilgrims arriving for one of the most important festivals on the Jewish calendar.

Most people assume Pentecost got its name from the day the Holy Spirit showed up. But what if that assumption has been quietly flipping the whole story upside down? And what if the timing of that day wasn't a coincidence at all?

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a familiar story and starts pulling on threads that most people walk right past. Why did Jesus tell his followers to go, but then immediately tell them to wait? Why that specific day, out of every day on the calendar? And what does an ancient Jewish harvest festival have to do with the birth of a movement that spread across the known world in a matter of months? There is a strategy buried in this story, and once you see it, the whole thing looks different.

This episode of the Harvest Church sermon series goes deep into a corner of the Bible that tends to get quietly skipped, because the language feels too big and too ancient to land with any weight today. But the question underneath it is one most of us carry around without ever putting words to it: what does it actually cost to be made right with someone you've deeply wronged, and what happens when you can't pay that price yourself?

Ps Andrew takes that one word from a letter written to a church in crisis, a community pulled in every direction by competing voices and cultural pressure, and traces it until the full picture comes into focus. What he builds toward is unexpected, and the courtroom scene he sketches near the end is worth staying for.

We know the conversation we should have, the risk we should take, the moment we should step forward. And still, somehow, we don't. That gap between knowing and doing is uncomfortable to admit, but it's exactly where this episode begins.

Ps Rachel Cartledge from Harvest Church takes an honest look at why good intentions so rarely translate into actual action, and her answer isn't what you'd expect. She digs into the story of two ordinary fishermen who went from hiding in fear to standing boldly in front of the most powerful people in the room, and the question she asks about what changed for them is one worth sitting with. Along the way she gets refreshingly real about her own moments of hesitation and disappointment, and she reframes what boldness actually looks like in everyday life in ways that might surprise you.

This episode asks you to take a careful look at the distance between what you say you want and how you're actually living. In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes an honest and sometimes uncomfortable look at one of the most misunderstood words in Christian culture. He unpacks what revival actually is, what it definitely is not, and why so many people spend years running after a counterfeit version of the real thing. Along the way, he introduces five types of people who each have a very different relationship with revival, and chances are, you will recognise yourself in at least one of them.

It arrives the same way for both of them, and that is exactly the point.

Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the most familiar stories in the Bible and finds something in it that most people completely miss. He asks a question that sounds simple on the surface but gets uncomfortable fast: when the storms come, and they will come, what is actually holding you up? This is not a gentle pat on the back. It is an honest look at priorities, values, and the gap between what we say matters to us and how we actually spend our time and energy.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge wraps up the "One Thing" series through Psalm 27 verse 4 with a look at what it really means to inquire, to study, to sit at the feet of Jesus. He brings two ideas together that you might not expect to find in the same sermon, and the tension between them is worth sitting with. There are some honest questions here about how we learn, where we learn, and whether we have quietly been leaning on the wrong things to carry weight they were never meant to carry. This one does not let you off the hook easily, but it does not leave you without somewhere to go.

The gaze comes before the reach. It always does.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a single verse from the Psalms and unpacks something that is surprisingly easy to miss: there is a difference between what your eyes take in and what your heart actually sees. You will hear a story from Genesis that reframes everything you thought you knew about making good decisions, a question that is harder to answer than it first appears, and an honest look at why so many of us are gazing at the wrong things without even realising it. This is not about trying harder or being more spiritual. It is about something much simpler, and much more disorienting, than that.

Drawing on some of the most recognisable stories and passages in the Bible, he explores what it actually looks like to stop striving, stop rushing, and simply remain. Seek, and you will find. Most of us have heard that before. But what does it actually look like to take it seriously?

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge talks about seeking, not in a vague spiritual sense, but in a way that is surprisingly honest and grounded. He unpacks the difference between chasing outcomes and chasing the source of those outcomes, and why that distinction changes everything. He gets refreshingly candid about his own insecurities as a pastor, the moments where he has felt least qualified yet seen the most happen, and what that taught him about where real transformation actually comes from. Along the way, he draws on some ancient texts and some very modern questions to build a picture of what it actually looks like to pursue God with that kind of bold, persistent, slightly unreasonable hunger.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes an ancient poem, a queen who risked her life to walk into a king's throne room, and a personal story of unanswered prayer and weaves them into something that might just reframe the way you think about asking for what you need. He doesn't tidy everything up or promise easy answers. What he does do is make a case that most of us aren't asking too much, we're asking too little of the right things. There's a moment in this episode where Andrew gets unexpectedly honest about his own faith being tested, and it's worth staying for.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church takes up a question that feels almost countercultural right now: what does it look like to fix your attention on just one thing in a world that is constantly splitting it in a hundred directions? Drawing from a single verse in the Psalms, he traces a thread that runs through the lives of David, Mary and Martha, and the Apostle Paul, and makes a case that the ancient habits we've quietly abandoned might be exactly what we need most today. This isn't about getting your quiet time routine right. It goes deeper than that.

So what's actually keeping you from the one thing that matters most?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Planted

There's a tree you've probably walked past a hundred times, the kind that barely moves in a storm while everything around it bends. Psalm 1 is essentially a poem about how that happens, and what it has to do with the choices you make on an ordinary Tuesday.

In this sermon, Ps Rachel Cartledge opens up Psalm 1 in a way that feels less like a Bible study and more like a conversation about the decisions that quietly shape everything. She draws on imagery you can actually see and feel, roots, rivers, storms, and trees that don't move, to explore what it really means to be grounded when life gets hard. Whether you're in a dry season right now or just trying to figure out which direction to head, this one will make you think about the paths you're on and why they matter more than you might realise.

You'll come away with a clearer picture of what it looks like to be planted well, and a fresh way of thinking about where you're drawing your water from.

<itunes:author>Ps Rachel Cartledge</itunes:author>

Profitable Christianity Part Two

On one side, there's the version of faith that costs you very little. On the other, there's what it actually looks like to belong to a church community, not just attend one, and the gap between those two things is bigger than most people want to admit.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through nine specific responsibilities that come with being part of a church. None of them are complicated. None of them are dramatic. But together, they paint a clear and honest picture of what genuine belonging asks of you, and it's the kind of straight-talking conversation about church life that rarely gets said out loud.

This one might ask you to sit with something uncomfortable about how you've been showing up to your faith community, or whether you've really been showing up at all.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-12-04-profitable-christianity-part-two.jpg"/>

Profitable Christianity Part One

Honestly, most of us have never really sat down and counted the cost of belonging somewhere. We sign up, we show up, and we quietly hope the benefits outweigh whatever we have to give.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church digs into what he calls "profitable Christianity," and it is not what you might expect from that phrase. He walks through an idea that most people quietly resist: that being part of a community means accepting both the rewards and the weight that come with it. Using a surprisingly relatable comparison that moves from babies to bills, he builds a case that will make you rethink what you have been signing up for, or maybe avoiding altogether.

By the end, you will know exactly which side of the ledger you are on.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-11-27-profitable-christianity-part-one.jpg"/>

Practical Christianity

The earliest followers of Jesus were known for something, and it wasn't their theology or their attendance. It was something far more practical, and far more personal.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes a close look at what actually set those first believers apart. She unpacks three areas where real, everyday generosity shows up in a person's life, and the answer to one of them might catch you off guard. There is also a refreshingly honest take on busyness, and why saying no to some things might actually be the most generous thing you can do.

Most of us feel the gap between what we believe and how we actually spend our time, energy, and resources. This episode is worth sitting with if you want to see what it looks like when faith gets off the page and into your week. Ps Andrew Cartledge would say that's exactly the wrong place to start.

In this episode, Ps Andrew from Harvest Church digs into what it actually looks like to live with purpose rather than just good intentions. He tackles a tension that most people feel but rarely name, the pull between the life you want and the life you're actually living. Along the way, he challenges some assumptions that even long-time churchgoers rarely stop to examine, and he doesn't let himself off the hook either. This one gets honest in ways that are uncomfortable and oddly freeing at the same time.

Most of us would say Jesus is at the center of our lives. But what if the way we actually live tells a different story?

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through Ephesians chapter one and asks a question that sounds simple but lands harder the longer you sit with it: is your faith central, or has it quietly drifted to the edges? You will hear a fresh look at what it actually means to be "in Christ," not just in belief but in practice, including an honest conversation about why so many people genuinely love Jesus but keep the church at arm's length. It is the kind of sermon that starts warm and gets uncomfortable in the best possible way.

The building, the Sunday routine, the event you show up to and then leave. It feels normal because it's familiar, but Ps Andrew Cartledge thinks it might be costing us something we didn't even know we'd lost.

In this episode, Ps Andrew from Harvest Church works through some of the biggest questions people quietly carry about what church actually is, why it exists, and whether it even matters in the world we live in now. He challenges a comfortable assumption that most people, inside the church and out, have never really stopped to examine. What he lands on might reframe not just how you see church, but how you see yourself.

Is it possible you've been showing up to something and missing the whole point of it?

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-10-30-the-church-people-or-place.jpg"/>

The In Between

You are halfway up a trail, your legs are burning, the summit is nowhere in sight, and you have absolutely no idea if you took a wrong turn an hour ago. That feeling, that grinding uncertainty of being somewhere in the middle, is exactly where Ps Rachel Cartledge starts this episode.

She traces the story of the Israelites wandering between Egypt and the Promised Land, one of the most familiar stories in the Bible, and finds in it something surprisingly honest about what it actually feels like to be in a season that makes no sense. If you have ever felt like you are moving in the wrong direction, or standing completely still when everything in you wants to go, this one is going to resonate.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes an honest and at times uncomfortably familiar look at the habits we bring into a church service without even realising it. He draws on an unexpected source, a book that challenges the way modern Christianity has quietly drifted into something it was never meant to be, and he walks through an ancient structure that might reframe everything you thought you knew about what it means to show up. This is not a gentle nudge. It is a genuine rethink of who church is actually for, and the answer might surprise you.

Just closer.

The distance you feel from God might not be a mystery to solve. It might be a choice you're making without even realising it. In this sermon from Harvest Church, Ps Andrew Cartledge unpacks one of the most straightforward invitations in the Bible and asks why so many of us keep God at arm's length. Along the way he explores what actually happens to a person when they stop treating faith like a Sunday appointment and start treating it like a relationship worth showing up for every day. There are five things that begin to shift in your life when you move closer, and five habits that make that closeness possible. You might be surprised which ones you're already neglecting.

Maybe the question isn't whether there's more to faith than going through the motions. Maybe it's what you're going to do once you know there is.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

The Power of Passed On Promises

On one side, there are people who finished well, who were still holding on to something bigger than themselves right up until the end. On the other, there are people who showed up, went through the motions, and left nothing behind. What separates them is what this episode is actually about.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a hard look at what it means to live a life that matters, not just in the moment, but across generations. He draws on one of the most famous chapters in the Bible and finds something in it that most people walk straight past. Along the way, he brings in a half-finished monument carved into a South Dakota mountain, a man named Noah who quietly checked out for three hundred years, and a personal story about his own father that gets right to the heart of what this whole thing is really about. This is not a comfortable conversation, but it is an honest one, and it raises a question you will keep thinking about long after you finish listening.

You probably didn't think twice about it. Ps Ruth Emmerson wants you to think twice about it.

She brings something refreshingly honest to this conversation about the words we speak, the words we receive, and the gap between what we mean to say and what actually lands. She gets personal, she gets practical, and she doesn't let anyone off the hook, including herself. This is the kind of sermon that starts with a tube of toothpaste and ends with you rethinking something you said before you even got out of bed this morning.

This one is worth coming back to. The kind of thing that hits differently the second time around, once you've had a chance to notice just how much your words are doing, for better or worse, on an ordinary Tuesday.

<itunes:author>Ps Ruth Emmerson</itunes:author>

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

They say the Spirit blows where it wills, and you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. Most of us nod at that and move on. Ps Andrew Cartledge thinks we should sit with it a little longer.

In this episode, he works through three moments from the book of Acts where the same Spirit showed up in completely different ways, to completely different people, in a completely different order than anyone expected. He walks through the texts carefully, honestly, and with a lot of warmth, and somewhere in the middle of it all, a picture starts to emerge that quietly dismantles some of the assumptions many of us carry into church without even realising it. Whether you grew up in church or you are just starting to ask questions about what faith actually looks like in real life, there is something in this one that will get under your skin.

This week, pay attention to what was happening when Peter was still mid-sentence. It might be the most important detail in the whole story.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-08-14-the-baptism-of-the-holy-spirit.jpg"/>

The Power of the Spirit

...and that's exactly the problem. You already know what you're supposed to be doing. You know the kind of person you want to be. The gap between that and where you actually are isn't a mystery, it's a frustration you've probably stopped talking about out loud.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes one verse from the book of Acts and sits with that gap for a while. Using a story about a broken-down car and a missionary who spent two years doing things the hard way, Andrew traces what it looks like when someone finally stops relying on their own devices and connects to something bigger. The transformation of one of history's most unlikely speakers sits at the centre of it all, and it's the kind of story that makes you wonder what you've been working around without realising it.

What would actually be different if the connection were already there, and you just hadn't noticed yet.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-08-07-the-power-of-the-spirit.jpg"/>

Promise of the Holy Spirit

If you have ever felt like your relationship with the Holy Spirit depends on you getting something right first, this episode is going to land differently than you expect.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a long, honest look at who the Holy Spirit actually is, starting from the very first verses of Genesis and tracing a thread that runs all the way through to Jesus himself. Along the way, he challenges an idea that has settled into the language of church without much scrutiny, and the shift in perspective it opens up is not a small one. If you have ever felt like your experience of God was somehow dependent on you doing the right thing or saying the right words first, you are not alone, and Ps Andrew thinks there is a better way to understand what is actually going on.

The Holy Spirit catching our train, not the other way around, changes everything. Worth the listen.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-07-24-promise-of-the-holy-spirit.jpg"/>

Jesus is Part Three

The closer you get to God, the more obvious it becomes that you cannot get there on your own. That tension sits at the heart of this episode, and it turns out the answer is stranger and more striking than most people expect.

Ps Andrew Cartledge unpacks one of the most misunderstood roles of Jesus, exploring why he is described as a mediator and what that actually means for ordinary people. Drawing on ancient roles of prophets, priests, and kings, Andrew builds a picture of Jesus that is far bigger and more surprising than most people have considered. There is a moment in this sermon where a single word from a 2000 year old text reframes everything, and once you hear it framed this way, it is hard to unsee.

If you have ever felt the gap between yourself and God and wondered what to do with it, this is exactly the right moment to listen.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-07-03-jesus-is-part-three.jpg"/>

Jesus is Part Two

Most people assume they already have a pretty good handle on who Jesus was. Kind, approachable, the kind of teacher who made things simpler for ordinary people. Ps Andrew Cartledge thinks that picture is missing something significant.

In this episode, he digs into who Jesus actually was when he walked the earth, and some of what he finds might surprise you. This is not the gentle, agreeable figure you might have grown up hearing about. The sermon explores Jesus as a teacher whose message cut against the grain of his culture and raised the bar rather than lowering it, leaving his listeners with more to wrestle with, not less. Along the way there are honest questions about how we read ancient texts, what Jesus was really getting at when he asked "who do you say that I am," and why the impossibility of his teaching might actually be the whole point.

This one is worth coming back to more than once. The first listen opens the question. The second one might be where it starts to settle in.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-06-26-jesus-is-part-two.jpg"/>

Jesus is

There is a version of Jesus that most of us have been carrying around for years, assembled quietly from the people who raised us, the experiences that shaped us, and the culture we swim in every day. It feels familiar. It might even feel certain. But at some point, if you are honest, you realise you have never really stopped to work out what you actually think.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church takes a question that Jesus himself asked his closest followers and turns it directly on the listener. It is a question that sounds simple on the surface but gets more uncomfortable the longer you sit with it. You will hear why building your faith on feelings and good experiences alone might be leaving you more exposed than you think, and why the answer Peter gives in Matthew 16 is far more loaded and historically significant than most people ever stop to consider.

If you have never really wrestled with who you say Jesus is, this might be a good moment to start.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2022-06-19-jesus-is.jpg"/>

Battle For the Bible

You pick up your Bible, set it down again, and quietly wonder if it still means anything in a world that has mostly moved on from it. That question is more common than most Christians want to admit, and Ps Andrew Cartledge is not pretending otherwise.

In this episode, he gets into one of the most pressing issues facing the church right now: how do you hold onto a book that the world, and sometimes even the church itself, keeps writing off as outdated, irrelevant, or simply wrong? You will hear where the real attack on the Bible begins, why it cuts deeper than most people realise, and what actually hangs in the balance when Scripture stops being taken seriously. This is not a theology lecture. It is a straight-talking conversation about something that quietly shapes everything else.

Just another meal. But that ordinary moment, it turns out, is closer to the heart of what we were made for than most of us realise.

In this episode, Ps Rachel Cartledge takes a simple, familiar image, the table, and unpacks why it keeps showing up at the centre of some of the most important moments in history, and in our own lives. She traces a pattern hidden across three separate stories in the book of Luke that reveals something surprising about blessing, brokenness, and what it means to be given to others. Along the way she reflects honestly on family, memory, and the kind of connection that does not happen in a course or a program but around a meal with real people. This one will make you think differently about your kitchen, your calendar, and maybe even your backyard shed.

In this sermon, Ps Andrew Cartledge explores what it really means to encounter God rather than just attend church. He works through some unexpected stories, some honest confessions, and some passages of Scripture that reframe what power, peace, and purpose actually look like when you stop going through the motions. There's a question in here that might catch you off guard, and once it lands, it's hard to shake.

If you've ever wondered whether there might be more to all of this than you've been experiencing, this one is worth sitting with quietly and letting it do its work.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Clothed in Love

If you've ever felt like the word "submit" lands differently depending on which side of the relationship you're on, this episode is worth your time.

Most of us have heard that word and either cringed or cheered. But what if the whole conversation has been starting from the wrong place? Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the most misunderstood passages in the Bible, and the closer he looks, the more the familiar surface reading starts to shift. He digs into the original Greek, the cultural context, and what Paul was actually asking of each person in a household, and the answers might surprise you. This isn't a comfortable sermon that leaves everyone feeling validated. It's the kind of honest unpacking that asks something real of everyone in the room, husbands especially.

This is one to save and come back to, because chances are you'll hear something different in it the second time around.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-11-07-clothed-in-love.jpg"/>

Turning Misery into Mission

They say suffering produces perseverance, but nobody tells you what to do while you are still in the middle of it. Paul did not write his letter to the Colossians from a comfortable chair. He wrote it from a cell, and somehow that changes everything about how you read it.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into a part of that letter most of us quietly skip over because it makes us uncomfortable. There is something unexpectedly honest here about the gap between the version of faith we were sold and the one Paul actually lived. Andrew brings a raw, sometimes self-deprecating look at what it means to be on mission when life is genuinely hard, and he unpacks a word buried in the original Greek that quietly reframes everything about why you are here.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes that surprisingly everyday question and turns it into something that cuts much deeper. Using a passage from the book of Colossians, he unpacks the idea that every person is wearing something spiritually, whether they know it or not. Some of it is fresh, some of it is worn out, and some of it has been sitting unopened in a closet for years. This is a conversation about identity, about what we carry into each day, and about why so many people keep reaching for the same tired clothes when there is a whole wardrobe waiting for them.

That is what this episode is about, and they are harder to spot than you might think.

Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a close look at a two-thousand-year-old letter that reads like it was written for today. He unpacks two specific warnings buried in the book of Colossians, warnings about the kinds of ideas and religious pressure that can quietly pull people away from what actually matters. This is not a comfortable, everything-is-fine kind of message. It asks hard questions about what we believe, where those beliefs come from, and whether we are building on something solid or just going along with whatever sounds good.

Find out what Paul was so worked up about from inside a prison cell, why it still matters now, and whether any of those inside threats are closer to home than you would like to admit.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-10-10-believers-beware.jpg"/>

Jesus Over Everything

There's a version of faith that quietly adds things to Jesus, as if he needs a little help to be enough. Most of us have been there, even if we'd never say it out loud.

In this first episode of a four-week series through the book of Colossians, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into a letter written from a prison cell that somehow manages to feel like a warm embrace. The questions it raises are ones people are still wrestling with today: Is Jesus enough on his own, or do we quietly add things to him to feel more complete? What does it mean that he holds all things together? Andrew brings some surprising history, a Leonardo da Vinci story you might not have heard, and a very honest moment about patience that most people will relate to immediately.

This one's for anyone who needs to hear it.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-09-26-jesus-over-everything.jpg"/>

Power & Authority

Power and authority are not the same thing, and the gap between them might be exactly where a lot of people get stuck.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge unpacks a distinction that sits right at the heart of the Christian life, one that most people never stop to examine. Drawing on two specific Greek words from the New Testament, he builds a case that will make you rethink how you approach prayer, faith, and the way you carry yourself in everyday life. There is a moment involving a powerpoint and a wall socket that is surprisingly hard to shake, and a story about a battleship and a lighthouse that lands exactly where you would not expect it to.

Most of us know we probably should have a budget, but knowing and doing are very different things, and that gap might be costing you more than you realise.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge wraps up a four-week series on money with a straight-talking look at spending, the comparison trap, and why so many lottery winners end up worse off than before they struck it rich. He walks through six practical keys to spending wisely, drawing on some surprisingly direct wisdom from the Bible that has nothing to do with guilt and everything to do with freedom. Whether you feel anxious around money conversations or you have just never had anyone sit down and explain how all the pieces actually fit together, this one is worth your time.

What happened over the following year is the kind of thing that's hard to argue with once you've heard it.

In this episode, he walks through two principles most people never think about when it comes to their finances: seeding and saving. He challenges the idea that generosity is just about money, and takes the concept of sowing and reaping well beyond your bank account, into your workplace, your marriage, and even the way you think. This one will have you looking at your everyday decisions in a completely different way.

That story about the decision that didn't deliver the instant result he was hoping for, it turns out that's exactly the point.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-07-25-money-s-spirit-and-surrender.jpg"/>

Money's Pathway

Most people assume that getting on top of money is mainly a practical problem. Better income, better habits, better budgeting. Ps Andrew Cartledge thinks that framing misses the point almost entirely, and this episode is where he makes that case.

He walks through what the Bible actually says about money, and it might not land the way you expect. He unpacks a concept called stewarding, and the way he frames it pulls the whole conversation away from bank balances and into something much bigger. There are honest questions here worth sitting with, and some old ideas about tithing and financial freedom that get a serious rethink. If you have ever felt like money has more control over your decisions than you would like to admit, this episode has something real to offer.

This is one worth coming back to, because the questions it raises tend to keep surfacing long after the first listen.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-07-18-money-s-pathway.jpg"/>

Money Misunderstandings

A crowd presses in around Jesus, someone asks about an inheritance dispute, and he does not answer the question they asked. He tells a story about a man with a barn full of grain who thinks his only problem is storage. It is a strange response until you realise Jesus is not talking about the man's bank account. He is talking about what the man actually believes.

Most of us will spend a third of our lives working to earn money, another third dreaming about having more of it, and the last third spending what we made. So why is it the one topic nobody wants to bring up in church?

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge from Harvest Church tackles the awkward silence head on. He walks through five common misunderstandings people hold about money, and some of them might surprise you, especially if you have assumed that financial freedom is something that only happens to other people. This is not a lecture about giving more or spending less. It is an honest look at where our ideas about money actually come from, and whether those ideas are working for us or quietly working against us.

Be warned: this one might ask you to sit with something uncomfortable about the story you have been telling yourself.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author><itunes:image href="https://hrvstpdcst.com/images/2021-07-11-money-misunderstandings.jpg"/>

A Seat At The Table

That quiet ache of feeling like everyone else got a seat but yours was somehow forgotten.

Ps Rachel Cartledge takes an unexpected detour through an ancient story most people have never heard of, and somehow it lands right in the middle of the everyday moments: dinner tables, lockdowns, broken promises, and the quiet weight of feeling like you are living in the middle of nowhere. There is a character in this episode who loses everything in a single day, ends up forgotten in a place whose name literally means "nothing," and who fully expects the worst when the king comes calling. What happens next is not what anyone in that room saw coming. This episode sits with the tension between what life promised and what it actually delivered, and it does not rush to a tidy answer.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge gets into territory that most people don't talk about openly: the part of you that wants to do good but keeps doing the opposite, the slow accumulation of shame and guilt that you barely notice until it's almost too heavy to move, and what it actually means to have a healthy soul. This is not a self-help pep talk. It's an honest, sometimes funny, and surprisingly searching conversation about the invisible war that happens inside every one of us, and where real freedom actually comes from.

You're tired but you can't sleep. You're trying to do the right things but somehow the basics keep slipping. You're functioning, but not quite thriving, and you can't put your finger on why.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge gets honest about the gap between what we know we should do and what we actually do. He walks through seven practical keys for looking after your body and mind, drawing from some surprising places including a sports performance sleep coach, a moment of accidental marriage comedy, and a few Bible verses that might challenge you more than you expect. This is the kind of conversation that starts with sleep tips and ends somewhere much deeper, so do not bail out before the finish line.

In this first episode of a brand new series on living a healthy life, Ps Andrew zeros in on the one area that quietly shapes everything else, and it has nothing to do with green smoothies or gym memberships. He breaks down four things that build up inside us without us even noticing, then walks through six practical keys you can actually use. It's honest, grounded, and closer to home than most of us would like to admit.

But what if the collapse itself is part of the path?

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a long, honest look at what happens in the gap between where you are and where you thought you would be. Using the story of a young man who went from being his father's favourite to a prison cell, through no fault of his own, he explores what it actually looks like to keep going when the dream seems dead. There is something quietly surprising in this story, something about the connection between the worst moments of a life and what comes next, that is worth sitting with. This is not a tidy, cheerful answer to hard times. It is something more useful than that.

The question worth sitting with is not whether your setback has a purpose, but whether you would recognise it if it did.

<itunes:author>Ps Andrew Cartledge</itunes:author>

Protection & Connection

Closer than you think. The relationships right in front of you, your marriage, your family, your work life, were actually designed to reflect something much bigger than you. And the way you show up in those relationships is connected to a battle you might not even know you are in.

In this final episode of the All Things New series through the book of Ephesians, Ps Andrew Cartledge tackles some of the most misunderstood passages in the whole Bible. He takes on the topics most people either avoid or get wrong, and reframes them in a way that is surprisingly honest, a little confronting, and genuinely worth sitting with. There is also a second thread running through this conversation that builds quietly in the background, and by the time it lands, you will want to hear it again.

Something has changed, and you can't go back to pretending it hasn't.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge digs into one of the most direct passages in the New Testament, and what emerges is less like a spiritual pep talk and more like an honest conversation about the gap between who we say we are and how we actually show up. He works through a series of surprisingly specific instructions about anger, honesty, work, words, and generosity, and the picture that forms is both challenging and genuinely hopeful. If you have ever felt like faith should change something about the way you live but weren't sure exactly what that looks like in practice, this one is worth your time.

Most people operate on that assumption without ever questioning it, but the Bible tells a different story.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge takes a long hard look at what the Bible says spiritual maturity actually looks like, and the answer is more practical and more communal than you might expect. He unpacks a substantial stretch of Ephesians that touches on boldness, love without limits, unity without uniformity, and the specific reason the church exists in the first place. There is a moment in this sermon where the description of an immature faith will make you stop and quietly take stock of where you actually are. It is not comfortable, but it is honest.

You know the songs, you know the people, and you care, in your own way. But somewhere along the line, faith started feeling like something that happens around the edges of your actual life rather than at the centre of it.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge works through one of the most packed chapters in the New Testament and asks a question that is harder to answer than it first appears: what does it actually mean to be a Christian? Not in name, not in habit, but in the way you live, speak, and show up. He unpacks three ideas that have a way of quietly rearranging how you see yourself, your faith, and your place in something much bigger than you.

It happens almost without thinking. We sort, we separate, we move on.

In this episode, Ps Andrew Cartledge opens up the book of Ephesians and takes a hard look at why humans have always found ways to divide themselves. He traces something uncomfortable through history, from a half-built tower in ancient Babylon to modern border walls, and lands on an idea that cuts right to the heart of what separates us from each other and from God. You will hear about outsiders and insiders, about a wall that got torn down, and about what it actually means to belong somewhere. This is not a tidy pep talk.
